Its nearly over..

h1 Monday, December 26th, 2005

Merry Christmas to all!! A little late, but better than never.. I worked Christmas Eve, today and will do another nine hours tomorrow, all at time-and-a-half :D I do love the holidays! The actual day was a little slapped together around here- Dad was on duty, so it was a case of bolting down Christmas lunch between phone calls. Much pity also goes to Codie, who put his name down as volly for the day and night and so also didn’t see much of his family (or his pillow) for Christmas. *hug* Mum and I had a great time though :D

But alas, it has almost drawn to an end.. I will be back in Perth this Friday night, very happy to see my boy again but sad to wave goodbye to my family and in-mates again up here.. A few more will be moving to Perth in February so there’s a chance to catch up then, but it seems to take more effort when there are more pubs everyone could possibly be at!! Its handy being in a one-pub-ditch sometimes :)

So has anyone thought about New Years yet? I’m sure we all did the family thing for Chrissy, so it seems only proper to get stuck into some packed out Sunday sessions to welcome in the New Year and drink away those silly resolutions.

Speaking of ducks- my one and only resolution this year is to graduate. Shouldn’t be hard considering I only have one Ed unit and a 10 week prac to accomplish, but ya just never know.. Anyone made any that just might be kept yet?

Uni Stuff: Edit

h1 Wednesday, December 14th, 2005

Yes well.. Many a phone call occured, and in the midst of all the confusion it became apparent that I would be more easily placed in Hedland. I have no accomodation or transport problems, and the principal is quite interested in having an ex-student come back to the school with some new ideas and inside knowledge. And so it has been rubber-stamped, as they say.

I will not freeze. Damn.

It took some doing to get my brain around it, but it did eventually occur to me that I did get my second preference, which is alot more than I can say for the other girls doing their ATP this year with me.

Just that its so damn far away..

The principal is also very keen to get me into science classrooms aswell, which sits very well with me. So, despite the disappointment of not going somewhere new and catching up with a wonderful friend, I’m trying to still look forward to my final prac.

In other news, I found a mop, the crisis was averted, and the laundry is no longer flooded.

Uni stuff

I went looking for my results, but alas (ECU being the super-tafe that they are) there were none. Poo. I only had one exam this semester, how hard can it be people??

I’ve also somewhat organised my ATP for next year. If all is still rosy at the begining of next year I’ll be doing a country prac down south :) It was either there or Hedland, where I could just live with my parents and not worry about transport, but it’d be nice to go somewhere new, so south it is!

I’m gonna freeze.

*runs out of the room*

In other news, I have just flooded the laundry. And I’m quite certain my parents don’t actually own a mop. Poo.

Working in Hedland

h1 Monday, December 12th, 2005

Means that you can work in fast-food and lose weight. Even if you have something terrible on break, the rest of the shift is spent run off your feet or standing around sweating it out!! Big thumbs up to Nick though: He invested in a couple fans, and they substitute for the lack of air-con rather well.

This week I have 6 shifts totaling 40.5 hours. Yay cash!

I’m seriously thinking of buying my brother’s trumpet off him, but it would prolly be more intelligent to give the money to Mum so he can’t just blow it on smokes and booze. He never touches it anymore, and I’d like to give it a go again, and it couldn’t hurt to learn another instrument. I ran the idea past Mum and Dad last night but maybe I’ll bring it up again in a few days, and mention it to Keith too..

Then we’ll have to move out- who would let me practice if we didn’t?! :D

Quite certain thats all for now.

I survived a needle!!

h1 Thursday, December 8th, 2005

I went to the Dr’s this morning because I am fed up with trying to play the flute and sax with a wart on the tip of my finger. Most uncomfortable. So Mum said I should get it liquid-nitrogened off, as it grew back when I used the paint-on stuff from the chemist. So we went in and the Dr said he could diathermy it off, then it wouldn’t grow back.

Problem: needle full of anaesthetic.

I tried to be brave and watch but I had to look at Mum and just yelp instead. But then I couldn’t feel while it was being burned off, so Mum and I watched. Very cool, bit smelly though.. When the anaesthetic wore off it started to burn so Mum bought a can of coke for me to cool it down with, and lollies because I had a needle :D

First shift back at Maccas since quitting in January. Should be “interesting”..

Holiday.. Kinda

h1 Monday, December 5th, 2005

In Hedland again. Just..

Had a few interesting days before leaving.. Spent mass amounts of time tinkering with a DVD for Rob and Sez’s Granny and Granddad. I took a video camera to their wedding anniversary celebration earlier this year. Was strange to watch after so long. Their Mum has all her own hair.

Got my hair cut and coloured too, for those who had no idea or (more forgivably) haven’t seen me in a while. Bright red streaks, kept the layers but got rid of all the split ends. Nice and light to tie up while I’m up north in the heat too. I like it :)

Barely managed to see Harry Potter that night with a couple friends we seem to find it difficult to catch up with regularly. Supposed to get to an early showing but we were late as usual. Luckily they were able to swap the tix so we had time for icecream by the time we got there. The boys were buggered but Beck and I enjoyed ourselves.

Friday was also interesting.

Isn’t it funny that when you need a way to describe something that you didn’t really like, but you dont want to offend anyone with the comment, you call it “interesting”?

So Friday. I did four loads of washing (some was even my own), fixed some photos and put them in the right order for a little Vid CD also for the grandparents, visited Tiff with a couple little pressies to celebrate the birth of their son (hopefully AFTER I get back to Perth!!), went Christmas shopping for my boyfriend (most difficult task in the world), sat at the squash courts for 45mins being made suitably uncomfortable by the dirty old man that runs it as my squash partners didn’t show, had a terrible last lesson with my sax student (who then made me feel horrible for being cross with him for not practicing by giving me a little Christmas present and card), dropped in to work to pick up a little something I’d ordered for my Mum (to find that it had been played-with by most of the office for the last day or so), and eventually made it back to Robs. A couple guys came over to play some X-box, a few drinks occured, and after all the running around, not too terrible a night was had.

Sat I dragged Rob out to buy coffee and a wedding present. That was an experience in itself. We came home and while he tried to rest a sore head I did some pressie wrapping and packed my suitcase. The wedding that night (though we missed the ceremony) was beautiful and alot of fun. Wish I’d taken my flute, but I did take my camera so there will hopefully be some nice photos come out of that film.

Was so nice to just chat about stuff we hope and plan to do in the coming year on the way home too.

Sunday morning I was supposed to catch a plane. I finished the wrapping and packing, but as usual I was running late so we got to the airport in time to see my plane warming up and backing away from the terminal to taxi out. When the guy asked where I was going to, I burst into tears and couldn’t even say it. We went to the service desk, where the nicer guy took one look at me and asked “You’ve just missed your plane?” *nodnod* “Going home?” *nodnod* He put me on the afternoon one with no extra charge. Love Qantas.

So We checked my suitcase in there and then, and grabbed Subway for luch on the way home again. (Its Ok, I had Subway). Feeling rather stupid and pathetic and apologetic for ruining an afternoon that I wasn’t supposed to be in Perth for, I quietly watched TV and looked at some of Q’s latest project photos to waste time until going back to the airport to leave. And then I left.

So happy to see my family again. And I’ll be working at Maccas again starting this Thursday, so I’ll see most of the people I caught up with last time and get some extra cash while I’m at it. My idea of a summer holiday :)

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

h1 Friday, December 2nd, 2005

- Not totally impressed with Dumbledore. If the actor had read the book he’d know that the character is a very softly spoken person who needs rather alot more antagonising before getting mildly cross. Too angry. Take a chill pill.

- Love the kids. Ron and his family (especially the twins) just get better and better (and taller!!) Hermione is gorgeous at the ball. Collective jaws dropped. But her eyebrows need to stop working overtime. ^^ ^^ ^^… -_^

- Little things make the movie. Snide remarks and half grins from Ron, Snape rolling up is sleeves.. All worth the wait.

I just hope they can make the movies as quickly as the last remaining books are written, because there’s likely to be mass rioting if any more key actors are replaced by younger looking ones.
