I’ll “initiative” you inna minnit!!

Eventually got the substitute unit somewhat sorted. I have a class to go to. In a real room with a lecturer and everything. There’s no unit outline. There’s no actual unit code for me to enrol in yet. This is going to end in tears.

I caught up with the person who “helped” me sort this out today. He was supposed to take me to the correct room, speak to the lecturer about my circumstances, and tee it all up. He didn’t know which room. He sent me to the secretary. She was in a meeting. I told him this, and that I would leave him to his duties while I tried to work out where I should be, and his reply was “Yes do that, use your initiative, I’m sure you’ll find it, just use your initiative”. Might I add we are still talking about the genius who burnt a pile of completed exam papers by leaving them by the heater in an unattended office.

So I had a look on the out-of-date timetable nailed up on the notice board, discovered which room the unit would have been in if it was on a different day with a different lecturer, and went there in the hopes that logic would prevail. Thankfully, it did.

I’m so over this.

Uni update: antici——pation

h1 Monday, February 27th, 2006

I have to do a unit. The unit no longer exists. I need a substitue unit. One particular person is able to help me out with that. They don’t know what they’re doing.

I just want to graduate. This is getting ridiculous.

I shouldn’t really have had high hopes that this could be easily solved. This person once left a pile of completed exam papers by a heater in an unattended office, with flammable results.

Oi vay..

More baby news! :D

I know you’ve all been waiting for it, so here is Ben and Tiff’s newest family member, Lukas Jacob.

Lukas Jacob

At this point he’d not long been born, washed and handed back to Mum.

And now for the news.. Ben and Tiff have asked Rob and I to be Godparents to Lukas :) They’re thinking of having a naming ceremony in the next month or so and they’d like us to be there. I’m so excited. I’ve had a silly grin on my face since yesterday afternoon.

I have memory.. I whole gig of the stuff :) Pity both the sticks I bought don’t seem to work together.. I have to use a new 512 and Rob’s old one, and contact a friend to try testing the other new one to see if its my board thats not compatible or if the memory is bung. I have yet to try editing some photos to see how it copes so I haven’t seen a difference yet, but I generally get raher excited about new stuff for my computer :D

And speaking of such new stuff, I bought a desk!! And put it together all by my self!! But the instructions were quite silly, so I know for next time not to try doing them in the prescribed order. We changed Rob’s room around and put his desk in the activity room and my new (smaller) desk in his room with my computer on it so when I start uni again I’ve got a space to study where I can shut the door. We’ll see how it works out I guess..

Life in all other aspects continues to be uneventful. Work is fine I suppose, with the odd caller being a right twat and screwing up the whole day on their own.. Please kids, be nice to your friendly after-hours council call centre. Swearing at them just gets you hung up on.

Actually, a redeeming feature this week was Valentines, which we did on Monday night instead due to work hours.. We had dinner at home with Rob’s cousin (who had to be at the airport horribly early the next morning) and then went to freo for a movie. We got there nice and early with intentions of coffee before-hand, but after the home-made spag balls sent up from Collie, we settled for a wander through freo and over to the Esplanade oval to play on the swings. The movie was Walk The Line, good but I wouldn’t say fantastic.. As far as movies about music icons’ lives go, Ray and Shine were much better, but this one did have its moments too. Anyway, after the movie we drove by Baskin and Robins, who were unfortunately closed at that late hour, and then off home to sleep. It turned out to be a lovely night :)
