The ATP Journey 01

h1 Saturday, April 29th, 2006

Not really the best way to start my ATP, but I don’t wanna go. I don’t wanna pack my life into a suitcase, I don’t wanna get on a plane and I don’t wanna be away for almost 3months.

I do wanna see Mum for her 50th Birthday and Mothers day. And I do wanna spend more than a few days with my family. And I did request a country placement.

Besides, if I don’t get on that plane, alot of people will be out for my head.

Here goes..

After I finished work Saturday arvy we packed a few things and headed down to Collie to stay the night with Christine and Ryley. We got there a bit late so Ryley came running out to see us in his PJs, then we sat down to a special tea- the best home-made lasagne you’ve ever tasted!! We took dessert with us, then bundled up Ryley’s telescope and headed into the back yard. We pointed the thing at something bright and not-twinkling, hoping for either Jupiter or Saturn, then left Rob to it as he figured out how to align the sighter with the scope and get a good look. After much cursing and bumping of the tripod, we all got a turn at looking at Jupiter with 3 out of 4 Gallilean Moons visible. Very cool :) Some hot drinks and a few hours chatting and it was off to bed.

Sunday was a nice lazy morning. We didn’t have to be at Wellington Dam til 11 so there was no rush to be up and showered. Played with eggs for brekky, then packed our gear up in the car, said goodbyes (til next Thurday anyway) and headed out to the dam. Christine had described where she thought it would be and I think she was right- sort of an ampitheatre with huge rock walls all around, just amazing. We’d never been before so we spent a good part of the day just looking up going “woah”. Eventually everyone arrived and the naming ceremony started. Lukas was so good just quietly listening to the poems Ben and Tiff read to him- laughing at his daddy while Ben tried to be serious!! We even got some sunshine to finish off with, nice touch :) We had some lunch and a game of continuous cricket while the guest of honour took a nap, then took to the cars to start the journey home as the rain started to set in. We followed a few roads around the dam for a look, then eventually hit the main road home. It was a lovely ceremony and a great weekend away- can’t wait to do it again!!

Rob and I have a certificate each to make it all official- come the 22nd of May we’ll have our very own walls to hang them on!!

The Easter post.

h1 Tuesday, April 18th, 2006

We shoul begin with Good Friday, which I think I’ve already covered but which I’d like to cover again by saying DOUBLE TIME is a luvverly thing. Also there was chocolate cooking to be done when I got home. Sez had already done her rocky-road thing, so Rob made little rocky road shapes and a big white Bilby, and did a couple choc-caramel slices (the only thing I can successfully bake just now). The slices weren’t exactly as I’d have liked them, but as it turned out they did taste ok. That night Rob had the guys over for X-box games and I had a night in my PJs watching MASH :P

Saturday was more work, leaving early to attend a house open. Inside it was nice but the location wasn’t fantastic. On the upside, we now know where Jay’s living guys!

Sunday it was off to Rob’s Granny and Grandad’s in Collie. I love going there, the food was awesome and the company is always fantastic. Christine and Brad came round with their families too- both the kids are getting so big! Its so nice to just sit and chat or kick a footy with Ryley, and so hard to pack up and leave each time. Especially when Grandad just wants to load us all up with sauces and pickles and all manner of things he bakes and cooks in his spare time :)

Monday saw me finally catching up with Mum and Dad. Rob dropped me off at Nan and Pa’s, then I went over to Hollywood Hospital to see Pa since he’s had a hip replaced. He’s doing really well, giving the nurses a lot of cheek. He feels a bit of a VIP as both daughters have had both their hips replaced (before the age of 50!!) and the same doctor is looking after him now. For the first few day’s the nurses didn’t really have to worry about him; Aunty Nett is a nurse in Geraldton, Aunty Heather is a physiotherapist at Freo, and Dad’s a paramedic on holiday from Hedland- the kids all had Pa up and off to the loo in their visits!! Nan’s doing ok too, she visits as often as possible- as much for Pa as to get out of a quiet house really. All going well he’ll be home safe by Thursday. Anyway, after the hospital Mum and Dad took me over to the Easter Volly Firemans Championships, where we all did first aid at one time or another. Would you believe the very same people are still there in the tent?! The only reason they recognised me was because I was with my parents- the last time I saw some of these people I was still knee high on Dad! After plenty of exclamations about how old and tall I was, we headed back to Nan’s for lunch before Rob picked me up and Mum and Dad headed off to the airport. Not such a sad farewell as usual- I’ll see them in a couple weeks for Prac. Then we were off to the home open- and we all know how that turned out!! We went to Antz’ for pizza and then up to the movies in Belmont with Bec and Alex- Ice Age 2 is great!!- then finally home to pass out.

I miss Mum B. I hope she saw all this ;)

The BIG House-Hunting Post!

h1 Monday, April 17th, 2006

We went to a home open. We loved the place. We put in an offer. It was ACCEPTED!!

Oh dear. We’re buying a house!!

Go have a look here!!

We paid the extra for all the funishings too. That HUGE TV in the side of the first photo; gonna be ours. The gorgeous bed frame (minus the mattress); gonna be ours. The blue couch that folds out to be a spare bed; OURS TOO!!

We’re home buyers, and we’re gonna be home owners in just over a month. Crikey.

Good Friday.

h1 Friday, April 14th, 2006

And the bit about it that’s most good? Getting payed 50c a minute to be at work and tell people that it is in fact Good Friday and that nothing, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, is open. No, not even your local council. Or World Wide Printing. Yes, the whole world does stop for this particular public holiday. Morons.

All gone.

And so it ends. The last of my experimental fish has finally gone. I buried him, same as I did with the very first one to go during the experiment.

I miss them. :’(

Easter

h1 Wednesday, April 12th, 2006

My Mummy and Daddy are coming to Perth for my cousin’s wedding. He said kids weren’t invited. I don’t think he realises that Keith and I are no longer the 5 and 8 year old kiddies at his 18th birthday bash. We are infact 18 and 22 respectively. Brains don’t run in the family. A few of us were lucky. I really hope to see Mum and Dad before they go back Monday.

I think I may be going insane.

Also, just for closure, I eventually got the assignment (of my grandfather) done and handed in. Not as dance-of-joy worthy as I thought it would be, but done.

Procrastination rOx.

h1 Sunday, April 2nd, 2006

So I should absolutely be doing that assignment. Which is exactly why I’m posting.

Went to a 21st last night. Just a few people playing darts or pool and drinking around a table out the back. The funniest thing was that most of us were in winter woollies, since we’d all be in Hedland for some period of time; I think Rob holds the record for the quickest exit out of the hole. A few new faces, and a couple I haven’t seen or heard from in aaages, so it was a great night all round. I think. I’m sure I would’ve heard by now if it wasn’t. Right?

I’ll be up that way again soon for teaching prac. Still haven’t decided if I’m excited or scared to death. A little from column A; a little from column B I guess. I just hope they let me concentrate on science as much as possible. I’m quite sick of music right now.

Okay. Here goes. I’m gonna attempt the cursed poisoned assignment of doom.
