Seven weeks down, only three to go. Oh how I am looking forward to that week off!!
The last couple weeks have gone really well. I’m getting all excited about the Arts Showcase night on Wednesday night as this is what all the music kids have been practicing towards for the term. On Friday last week it all started to come together- I couldn’t believe it!! Suddenly kids who wouldn’t go near a microphone belted their tunes out like little troopers and I’ve finally memorised the two songs I’m playing on the bass with the year 11s. It should go really well. All fingers are crossed, just in case.
The science group have been going well too. I finally learnt the rest of their names (so I didn’t just keep picking on the kids I knew from music) and after another experiment this week they do their assessment task for the term next week.
With most of the hard work taken care of I’ve been able to relax a bit over the last couple weeks and catch up with friends. We’ve been out for dinner and had a few movie nights so I don’t feel like I’m ignoring everyone while trying to concentrate on prac. I have to admit, after a full week of best behaviour, its nice to just sit infront of the TV swearing at the soccer!!
Over this past seven weeks I’ve gone through various stages of “what the hell was I thinking?!” and managed to get to the point of “I think I’ll do this for a few years yet”. For a while there I really thought I’d wasted four perfectly good years of my life at Uni on the wrong course, but it’s not so bad as I feared.
I really am going to miss these kids in a few weeks’ time.
