Bird-sitting

h1 Tuesday, July 24th, 2007

For the past nearly-three weeks Skit and I have been bird-sitting a young Weiro named Sakai. His “parents” bird-sat our Budgie Peach while we went to Broome, so we have Sakai while they’re in Scotland.

Anywho.

I just want you all to know that as a direct result of living here for nearly three weeks, he is currently whistling the most recognisable four bars of the Queen Of The Night aria from Mozart’s The Magic Flute. :D

There is still a small part of Nay that thinks she’s an evil genius.

Cooking!!

h1 Monday, July 16th, 2007

So I made Rob some scrambled egg yolks the other morning. Thats right, just the yolks- appears he’s only allergic to the white bits. Which is fine by me, because I saved the whites and made myself the world’s most awesome Meringues!!

And let me just say, they are “teh awesome”. Whatever shape you may think they resemble.

Work.. Less blah for the mo..

So my job title has changed. I am no longer Renée the Call Centre Team Leader, but rather Renée the Call Centre Agent Trainer. I am indeed the trainer, in charge of all that is training and the co-ordination of accuracy reporting and coaching and monitoring. Should be interesting. So far I’ve spent two and a half days playing with spreadsheets.

Oh, and I’m no longer finishing work at 10pm every night. I’m quite looking forward to late-night shopping tomorrow, actually.

I registered for my graduation ceremony today too. Pick up tix and my regalia on Friday September 14th. Can’t wait, but still not sure what to wear under great-gran’s gown.. Thinking some nice black pants and a pretty blue top that will match the hood- I’d quite like to find one of those Chinese-style tops that button up with the pretty black embroidery things that were everywhere a few years ago. Just not sure if I’ve got the boobs to pull it off. So to speak.

Anything else, you ask? Nope, that about sums it. Did I mention we’re engaged? :P

And now, the rest of the holiday:

h1 Sunday, July 1st, 2007

A few months ago we both decided to take two weeks holiday from work and do something. As Sez was finishing uni in Broome soon, and Dad would be heading up for a few days, we thought it’d be nice to plan something that coincided. We ended up with:

Mon 18th- flew to Hedland
Wed 20th- drove to Karratha (they have a book store!) and back via Point Sampson
Thur 21st- borrowed my Dad’s Patrol and drove to Broome
21st- 25th- bummed around Broome doing stuff with Sez and Dad
Tues 26th- drove back to Hedland
Fri 29th- flew back to Perth

The weather was warm, the sunshine was excessive, the beach sand (in Broome) was white and full of tiny ghost-crabs, there was plenty to do and see.. Just awesome. Taking only one week would not have been nearly enough; this way there were a few days to unwind, a full week of touristy stuff, and a few days to bum around and see a few friends before coming back.

Of course, we actually caught up with friends within our last couple hours in town- Tom took 20 off the taxi and came over for coffee, then Sara took a break from the BP over the road and came to the airport to see us off!

I’m definately not looking forward to returning to work tomorrow, but I’m not absolutely dreading it either, which is nice. I guess we’ll see what sort of mayhem I caused by my absence (ya know, because I’m that important that they can’t function without me.. pfft).

Sorry, that was for all of you who read Skit’s journal too :P

Picture this- Cable Beach, just after another beautiful sunset, Rob drops down on one knee and asks me to marry him! And I said yes! We’re engaged!!
