I tried to be a bit objective about the last post, but I obviously have an opinion.

As Boy is my friend, obviously I side with Boy. It can be said that I’m biased, but I just don’t see how a twat who took off at the first sign of a child has more right to be there than the guy actually acting like a father.

As a girl, I wouldn’t just let the boys sort it out. If I were left pregnant and alone, then found someone who accepted that and wanted to be with me anyway, the original Sperm Donor could go jump. It takes more than just DNA to be a father.

My mate’s girlfriend has just had a baby. But its a little convoluted.

Boy meets Girl when Girl is three months pregnant. Girl tells boy she’s three months along, but noticing that girl is a great person and that Sperm Donor is nowhere in sight, Boy hangs around and falls for her in a fair sized way. Boy goes from “pub player” to “works with handicapped kids” in about six months flat and does more growing up in that time than he has over his last 24+ years. (Shocked the hell out of many of us!)

Boy helps Girl out. He’s there for a chat or a hug when she needs it, does the Maccas run when Jr decides its time (no pickles) and further into the relationship (pregnancy) is the one rubbing Girls back as Jr grows and needs more space (and decides he’d like the space currently occupied by Girl’s spine.)

All along, Sperm Donor has been no-where in sight. He left the moment he found out about Jr, vowing only to come back for the birth. After which he wants nothing to do with it other than the payments he will owe. Girl thinks this is perfect, as Sperm Donor is a twat.

So just the other day, Girl has Jr at 4am. Sperm Donor turns up (as he said he would) and as the father is able to stay at the hospital. Boy, after getting Girl there, and going through everything with her in the last six months, waits to meet Jr.

Here’s the part I’d like your opinion on. I’ll post mine at a later time.

Sperm Donor starts throwing his weight around, and orders Boy not to be allowed in Girl’s hospital room.

As the father, Sperm Donor is clearly within his rights- as far as the hospital is concerned. Boy leaves, and in doing so peacefully, shows hospital that he is no threat and simply goes back at another time to meet Jr. Between these times he was quite ready to separate Sperm Donors head from his shoulders, but after meeting Jr and consequently melting, Boy has decided he’ll just wait for Sperm Donor to bugger off again so Boy can be with Girl again in peace.

Now, I don’t know Girl’s opinion on all this. By other accounts, she’s so into being a first time Mum that she’s just waiting for the boys to sort it out for themselves. Not what I’d do, but its a fair way to handle it. She doesn’t need stress.
