Soo… Bike lessons are going well. Lesson number 5 is this Thursday, and I have to remind him that we haven’t done emergency stopping yet (how to not throw yourself over the handlebars). Those rotten U-turns are coming along nicely, and I’m plenty confident in leading the instructor around and sitting in the right bit of the road. Just need to get out and practice lots, which we have been doing with Rob’s Dad nearly every weekend. Great to see him more often!
This weekend was my Nan’s 80th birthday (crikey, when did that happen??) so my parents came down to surprise her! They flew in Thursday night, so we went out to dinner on Friday to catch up. We took Dad along, and they had organised for a friend from Hedland to come too. Anne was a crazy lady who used to work at the Depot with Dad and at Maccas with me, and had a hand in pretty much every sport up there at the time. Still crazy!!
Then there was The Lunch on Saturday. We all turned up at the Atrium at the Esplanade Hotel in Freo- Nan had no idea! Dad’s little brother was over from Brisbane aswell, the first time all four kids had been together in about 11 years. Then lots of grandkids, and 3 great-grandies running and crawling around the place. My cousins’ kids are sooo cute! Pa had helped the girls to organise everything, and did a stirling job of keeping Nan in the dark about the lot
After lunch we went back to Nan and Pa’s for cake and photos- I think thats the first big family photo that Rob’s been in. We crashed with very full bellies that night!
Then another lunch Sunday! The girls (Dad’s two big sisters) had figured a take-away picnic in Applecross was the way to go. So we headed down to Coogee to meet up with my parents again and move fridges and freezers around with Dad- well I entertained the dog while they worked out the logistics
Then my Dad borrowed Rob’s Dad’s bike and gear and he and I rode to the picnic with the cars in convoy! So cool to get out for a ride with him after spending so much time as his pillion to get to school and stuff. There was much KFC and introducing and more photos- though I’ll have to get copies off Mum’s camera since we forgot ours on both occasions! Then Mum and Dad headed off to get to the airport, and Rob Dad and I went back to our place to drop off the Spada and get our buts to the movies- made it just in the nick of time too, lucky Adam pre-paid the tix on teh internets.
Overall, alltogether too much food! But plenty plenty family- very cool to have (Rob’s) Dad thrown in the mix too!
Oh yeh, Mum and Nan were quizzing on when my Grad ceremony will be, when Nan suggested I where my Great Gran’s regalia! Turns out Pa’s Mum graduated from the University of London with a Bachelor in Music, and Nan still had the gown and mortarboard packed away. Aunty Heather wore the gown when she graduated from Curtin, and when I called ECU to see if was ok to provide my own regalia they said No Probs! I’ll still have to get a mortarboard from ECU with the hire of the sash and hood though, because Great Gran’s has a pale blue tassel, and ours have to be black. But I get to keep that one so its all good! Nan got them out to try on at their place on Saturday- it was a bit of a shock to see myself in the mirror.. I thought “Oh crap, I’m really graduating!” Now I have until September to find an outfit to put underneath it

We shoul begin with Good Friday, which I think I’ve already covered but which I’d like to cover again by saying DOUBLE TIME is a luvverly thing. Also there was chocolate cooking to be done when I got home. Sez had already done her rocky-road thing, so Rob made little rocky road shapes and a big white Bilby, and did a couple choc-caramel slices (the only thing I can successfully bake just now). The slices weren’t exactly as I’d have liked them, but as it turned out they did taste ok. That night Rob had the guys over for X-box games and I had a night in my PJs watching MASH
Saturday was more work, leaving early to attend a house open. Inside it was nice but the location wasn’t fantastic. On the upside, we now know where Jay’s living guys!
Sunday it was off to Rob’s Granny and Grandad’s in Collie. I love going there, the food was awesome and the company is always fantastic. Christine and Brad came round with their families too- both the kids are getting so big! Its so nice to just sit and chat or kick a footy with Ryley, and so hard to pack up and leave each time. Especially when Grandad just wants to load us all up with sauces and pickles and all manner of things he bakes and cooks in his spare time
Monday saw me finally catching up with Mum and Dad. Rob dropped me off at Nan and Pa’s, then I went over to Hollywood Hospital to see Pa since he’s had a hip replaced. He’s doing really well, giving the nurses a lot of cheek. He feels a bit of a VIP as both daughters have had both their hips replaced (before the age of 50!!) and the same doctor is looking after him now. For the first few day’s the nurses didn’t really have to worry about him; Aunty Nett is a nurse in Geraldton, Aunty Heather is a physiotherapist at Freo, and Dad’s a paramedic on holiday from Hedland- the kids all had Pa up and off to the loo in their visits!! Nan’s doing ok too, she visits as often as possible- as much for Pa as to get out of a quiet house really. All going well he’ll be home safe by Thursday. Anyway, after the hospital Mum and Dad took me over to the Easter Volly Firemans Championships, where we all did first aid at one time or another. Would you believe the very same people are still there in the tent?! The only reason they recognised me was because I was with my parents- the last time I saw some of these people I was still knee high on Dad! After plenty of exclamations about how old and tall I was, we headed back to Nan’s for lunch before Rob picked me up and Mum and Dad headed off to the airport. Not such a sad farewell as usual- I’ll see them in a couple weeks for Prac. Then we were off to the home open- and we all know how that turned out!! We went to Antz’ for pizza and then up to the movies in Belmont with Bec and Alex- Ice Age 2 is great!!- then finally home to pass out.
I miss Mum B. I hope she saw all this ![]()

Banks, and their websites, are boring as hell. And most are not idiot-friendly. There is just so much junk to shuffle through, and then very little useful info waiting at the bottom of the pile.
In an attempt to get away from the computer (it was that or throw the shuttle, sorry sweety) I dusted off my bike and went for a ride. About a half hour- 45mins later, I kinda colapsed into a chair for a bit thinking how insanely stupid an idea that had been. But I think I’ll try to keep it up. Now that I’ve made it out once, it’ll be easier to get out again. And I didn’t fall off, a big ++
Went to the outdoor theatre at Burswood to see Serenity last night. Love love love it! Good thing it was outdoor, Fez and I didn’t shut up for most of it!! I can only imagine how annoying that musta been. Sorry guys!! The couple that actually organised the trip couldn’t make it in the end, so we shall just have to go again next week methinks. Gosh darn *slaps knee*
Now I must eat. Its the middle of the day and for a change I have an appetite. This puzzles me.

- Not totally impressed with Dumbledore. If the actor had read the book he’d know that the character is a very softly spoken person who needs rather alot more antagonising before getting mildly cross. Too angry. Take a chill pill.
- Love the kids. Ron and his family (especially the twins) just get better and better (and taller!!) Hermione is gorgeous at the ball. Collective jaws dropped. But her eyebrows need to stop working overtime. ^^ ^^ ^^… -_^
- Little things make the movie. Snide remarks and half grins from Ron, Snape rolling up is sleeves.. All worth the wait.
I just hope they can make the movies as quickly as the last remaining books are written, because there’s likely to be mass rioting if any more key actors are replaced by younger looking ones.
